The Art Deco Hotel Montana was opened in 1910 as a "palace" hotel; a time when the change in direction of style had already begun, and art deco style influenced the style of the hotel.
The star architect, Pia Maria Schmid from Zurich, knew how to make the most of the valuable existing building, harmonizing it with the new alterations. Bold and modern or elegant and extravagant - these variations are all interpreted in a contemporary fashion in our art deco style bedrooms. HOTEL FACILITIES & SERVICES: A simple and modern design, warm earthy and honey tones, and a new table concept have been delighting guests at the SCALA RESTAURANT since mid-March 2003. From the windows, the most beautiful view in central Switzerland inspires dreams. The art deco style has also been adopted in our chef's culinary concept, delighting discerning gourmets with creative and beautifully presented à la carte dishes, as well as with daily new variations of our freshly made pasta. A particular attraction for wine lovers is the trolley with a selection of around 30 open, yet quality wines.
The generous stucco decoration, unique ornaments and parquet floor are all original and lend a stylish atmosphere to the high rooms. The "cheminée" (open fireplace) section of the SCALA RESTAURANT is ideal for events of up to 50 people. The unique interior of this room, with its classical reliefs is reminiscent of temple décor. Images from the past, portray the dancers of Kallimachos, as well as Dionysos and Pan. (The 5th century BC originals of the plaster models are to be found in the National Museum in Naples).
