Apart from the thatched roof and the fine white sand on the floor, Veligandu offers real Maldivian charm, a high standard of services, friendly and experienced staff; it has an extra-ordinary elegance that is almost beyond compare. This is the real Maldives.A short scenic flight of 15 minutes that will carry you over some of the beautiful Maldivian islands and reefs, will take you to the landing platform right at the edge of the sand bank that Veligandu is famous for.

ACCOMMODATION: Total No. of Rooms: 63. The resort offers three choices of accommodation: secluded Water villas, beach-fronted Superior rooms and Deluxe rooms. Although different in size, design and the location, all rooms offer comfortable accommodation and are air-conditioned with ceiling fan, and equipped with IDD telephone, mini-bar and en suite bathroom with hot and cold water, showers and shaver points. Deluxe rooms and Superior rooms are furnished with a third bed, making it especially convenient for a family with a child to accommodate.

RESTAURANT: Dhonveli Restaurant - The Dhonveli Restaurant is spacious, open on all sides with bamboo shutters that can be pulled down in the event of the odd squall. Under the palm thatch, the floor is covered with fine white sand so you can dig your feet in as you enjoy your meals. Veligandu is certainly not the resort for you if you are planning to lose some weight during your holidays. The food here is excellent and rated very highly by guests. A choice of German, English and local breakfast is offered at the full buffet breakfast and a late breakfast is available from 9.30 to 11.00 am at the coffee shop. Lunch is always served buffet style, and dinner is served either buffet style or a la carte, with a wide choice of entrees, soups and desserts and a choice of main courses. These include continental and Asian dishes.The Maldivian buffet, a seafood and pasta buffet, eastern and western barbecues provide a rich variety to the dinner program. The Maldivian buffet gives you a unique opportunity to sample the local delights in an environment enhanced by the local costumes worn by the waiters, and followed by the evenings entertainment when you get to sample the local music and dance. The seafood and pasta night features handmade genuine Italian style pasta. Most of the dinner buffets are held outside on the wooden deck right outside the Dhoveli restaurant overlooking the lagoon. Each dinner is a special event, in a romantic atmosphere under the stars and the coconut palms providing many moments for the memories. Vegetarian meals are provided on request. You will just need to inform the reception upon arrival at the resort.The service on the island is superb, whether it is dining, accommodation or other facilities. Whether you want to scuba dive, snorkel, partake in sports, or simply idle away time on the beautiful beach, you will find yourself enjoying the days immensely.

RECREATIONAL FACILITIES: If you are considering tanning seriously, consider Veligandu seriously. Veligandu in local language means a large stretch of sand, and this is virtually what the island is. A large L-shaped stretch of white sand that stretches out into the crystal clear aquamarine lagoon that surrounds this sandbank in the Indian Ocean. This is the stuff that a beachgoer's dreams are made of.

DIVING: Diving off Veligandu - The Dive sites around Veligandu offer the same underwater grandeur that Maldives is well known for. However the dive school advises that the sites' degree of difficulty is lower than some advanced divers may expect. Day excursions are organised for advanced divers who would like to experience more difficult sites. The house reef of the resort is about 150 metres away from the beach. However the long jetty of the resort takes you right over the edge of the reef from where you can step down into the waters over the reef. Masks, snorkels and fins are available from the dive school. Night diving on the house reef is available until 10.00 p.m. every night. The hammerhead point is one of the most exciting attractions around Veligandu, where the chances of sighting these magnificent creatures are quite high. Boat trips are available everyday of the week. Full day, early morning, and night dive excursions are organised regularly. Independent diving is available at the house reef. All the dive sites are within reach in 10 to 60 minutes by boat. Single dives and dive packages are available for certified divers.
