LOCATION: Every place has a history, but none as singular as The Capital Hotel. Our rich, colorful heritage is the backdrop for our signature Southern hospitality. The Capital Hotel opened as a smashing success in 1876. For years, The Capital has been Arkansas's leading hotel and unofficial political headquarters. Certainly, laws were made at the State Capitol. But the deals were struck at The Capital Hotel. We've hosted prestigious guests such as former President Ulysses Grant in 1880. Legend has it that The Capital Hotel's unusually spacious elevator was installed to accommodate President Grant's desire to ride his horse up to his room. During World War I, our grand lobby and banquet rooms were alive with dances and parties. After a brief closing, The Capital Hotel was reborn in the early '80s, leading the revitalization of downtown Little Rock. Now meticulously restored, the superb hotel is cited for its historical significance as one of the country's first examples of cast iron facades. The Capital Hotel is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A Captivatingly Capital Experience.

HOTEL FACILITIES & SERVICES: A favorite haunt of politicians and the national media when they come to Little Rock, but you don't need to be interested in politics to enjoy this beautiful room and superb service. But keep your eyes open - you never know who is going to be sitting at the next table. Also handy for a quick lunch or dinner or a late meal, The Capital Bar is a perfect place to relax for a snack, a meal or an entire evening.
Sublime, stately, impressive - no single word completely captures the ambiance and personality of Little Rock's newest and most desirable meeting and dining experience, The Capital Cellar. The Capital Cellar is reminiscent of the Prohibition era speakeasies. Discreetly hidden, tucked beyond the kitchen and hotel laundry, one almost expects it to be a place of clandestine meetings and exclusive get-togethers. It is, however, a place for refined entertainment where you can also get down to business. A dining and wine cellar of distinction.
Once inside the secret entrance, you'll find a brick interior that exudes charm and elegance. Here diners can experience the very best The Capital has to offer. Our maitre d' will help you select from one of our signature Capital Cellar menus and choice wines to complement your meal. Meals attentively prepared by the hotel's executive chef, then served by a specially trained waitstaff and wine specialists. Indeed, The Capital Cellar surrounds you with 3,000 bottles - an extensive collection of vintage wines and liquors, plus a cigar humidor. Intimate meetings that generate esprit de corps.
Our facilities for meetings and social events are considerably above average in comfort, appearance and utility. We're not a hotel for huge conventions, but for small to moderate business meetings and memorable social events. The Capital Hotel is the place to call in Little Rock. Most of Arkansas's famous Fortune 500 companies use us for meetings (and, of course, to house their guests) -- for them we're really a home away from home at Little Rock. |
