ACCOMMODATION: All rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows that front the tropical Atlantic and San Juan’s finest beach. Beds, king-size or doubles, and work tables are uniquely positioned to face open water and sky. One-bedroom suites include a large telescope for star-gazing. Elevators cabs have walls that are waterfalls (behind glass)—a first in hotels. “Desires” notepads and pens are wall-mounted in guest rooms, to write more towels or other requests. In guest room corridors, the sound is gently rolling surf. Walk on neatly piled pebble paths (photographed on floor tiles). Jelly beans (deposit five cents) are available from old-fashioned jelly bean dispensers conveniently on each floor.

HOTEL FACILITIES & SERVICES: All 84-rooms have ocean views, beds and work tables facing endless water and sky. Theatrical lighting brings the outdoors indoors; elevators have waterfalls (behind glass); corridor sounds are gentle surf. A superb staff is friendly.
The sensuous main bar, named Liquid, is San Juan's trend-setter hangout and a mecca for celebrities. The open-air rooftop lounge, named Wet, offers dazzling views of coastline and city. Restaurant Tangerine has been repeatedly named among the world's best. The Water Club is designated one of the world's top 10 boutiques. But its rates are surprisingly modest. |
DININS & BARS: Day and night, the rooftop exotic bar and lounge aptly named "Wet", with the best sushi bar on the island, also offers a panorama of San Juan's most dazzling views- the curved coastline, the vast expanse of the Atlantic and the buildings of the capital city.
"Liquid" is the Water Club's main bar and sizable lounge. Instantly discovered by the trend setters, "Liquid" is the fashionable "in" spot in a city famed for vibrant lifestyle and nightlife. There is a late night Dee-Jay.
"Liquid" serves breakfast mornings to 11am. It re-opens at 5pm, and while the bars in Puerto Rico generally close at 4am, this doesn't until the last customer departs.
A dinner restaurant named "Tangerine" serves Pacific Rim cuisine overlooking the Atlantic and is the creation of award winning chef Cesar Fernandez. It recently made the Conde Nast Traveler "Hot Tables" list of 75 of the most intriguing new restaurants in the world. |
