The Sainte-Marie Island is a paradise bathed by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. The Princess Bora is nested in a large palm tree grove, at the edge of the lagoon. The Lodge and the villas are built in the Saint-Marienne tradition, from love for this well preserved island. The materials are noble wood, stone, roofs in traveler-tree leaves.
The Luxury Villas are mostly made of noble Madagascar wood and are inspired by the architecture of the islands. They will allure you with their space (50 m2) and their splendid fitting. You will feel at home and free to take full advantage of the beauty of the place and the view on the lagoon. The Luxury Villas are octagonal and also integrate a large individual wooden veranda terrace. The Luxury Villas are pleasant to live in and offer all the facilities: vast, tastefully decorated living rooms with great suspended double bed, large bath rooms with shower, double basin, separated WC, storage, ventilator, air-conditioning, individual closets.The Luxury Villas can accommodate up to two more people (2 individual beds), thanks to the mezzanine which you reach by using a sumptuous solid wood staircase. The Comfort Villas are inspired by the architecture of the Madagascar islands. They are round and largely open to fully benefit from the beauty of the site. They include a large wooden veranda terrace with hammock. In the middle of a palm tree grove, on the edge of a white sand beach, its fifteen villas are beautiful, but not ostentatious. In this eco-tourist complex, the real luxury is the space, the magic view of the lagoon, the refinement of the materials and of the local style, the originality of the suspended beds, and also of the hammocks for two, with artistically draped mosquito nets… A miraculous place, out of the race of time. At the Lodge, life has always passed in the rhythm of nature. There are only 14 individual villas, a real luxury.
The meals of the Princess Bora Lodge have the reputation of being the best on the island. In a unique setting, you will taste a cuisine of flavors mixing Creole, French and Malagasy influences. The light and creative cuisine is entirely dedicated to the sea and the sun. You will taste specialties of lobsters, fish and other shellfish of the day. You will vary the pleasures by discovering the local zebu dishes and accompanied by a list of local, French and South-African wines. Eating at the Princess Bora Lodge will be an idyllic memory for you. The Lodge specialty is old trimmed rums in oak barrels with redolent flavors: Princess, Explosive, Acidulated, Vanilla. You will savor them on the terrace of the bar as an aperitif while contemplating the spectacle of the sun setting on the lagoon. During the whale season and after the trips to the sea, scientists will brief you in with the observations of the day in the second bar, by the fire of the chimney.
Sainte-Marie is seen as one of the most beautiful sites of the Indian Ocean. The Princess Bora organizes - in collaboration with the best center of the island – diving sessions on coral reefs to observe the exuberant marine animal-life and the many tropical fish species which also inhabit the wrecks. The departure takes place directly from the hotel for the diving sessions in the South of the island and from Ambodifotatra for the diving sessions in the North.
Moreover, for the beginners it is possible to take courses and obtain an international PADI certificate. The Princess Bora Lodge is the privileged place of residence of the Sainte-Marie divers. We will help you discover virgin coral reefs and first hand spots.
